A few days ago I was talking with some friends about our time in Greece and how right before we left (like a few days) we took a wonderful trip. A friend of ours there in Athens had a vacation home on the island of Kea that they rented out and we decided to rent it for a week and spend some time there. It was one of the most wonderful, relaxing times I have ever enjoyed. There were three houses around a private cove with a beautiful beach. And nothing else.
This island was just that - quiet relaxation with no noise or bustle, a huge change from Athens. I had just finished having all of our household goods packed up in preparation for our move to Ecuador, all of which heightened even more my desire to escape.
While on Kea we took a long hike down to a secluded beach - perfect crystal clear waters, pristine sand, ancient Greek ruins on the cliff above us. No one but ourselves. It was amazing.
During this vacation I made the below image, which still is one of my favorites:
One of the fun things about digital photography is that I was able to grab this image (the RAW file) and play around with it some more in Photoshop CS6; I had originally processed it using GIMP and then a freeware HDR image tool. The above is just in PS. I enjoyed revisiting an old favorite, just to see how things would turn out ...

A great resource on learning how to light.
Follow the work of one of the great photographers of today.
Amazing images by an incredible visual artist.
Why buy it when you can have fun and build it?
